Both steel will be supplied surface ground and precision leveled to minimise distortion during heat treatment. L3 - 52100 Steel L3 - 52100 is a medium alloyed tool steel for oil quenching. It's uses include Gauges, woodworking knives, paper cutting knives and tobacco cutting knives. It also has a simple heat treatment cycle which can be easily completed in a home forge or kiln. W1.2436 - D6 Steel W1.2436 - D6 is a High-Carbon (2.1%) High-Chromium (12%) steel with high wear resistance and maintains a good cutting edge. It hold good stability during heat treatment and is used in a number of operations including: paper cutting knives, brick moulds, forming molds and farriers knives.
